Some organizations offer a Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH) or Emergency Ride Home (ERH) program. While the name may differ, both refer to the same benefit.
This program provides a backup ride home when an unexpected situation prevents you from using your usual way of getting home.
When can I use it?
Each organization sets its own rules, but the program is commonly used when unexpected situations arise, such as:
- You become sick during the workday.
- A family emergency requires you to leave work.
- Bad weather makes it unsafe to bike or walk home.
- Your carpool or vanpool is canceled.
- You miss your usual transit connection or need to work later than expected.
Your organization's policy determines when the program can be used, so be sure to check the program details if you're unsure.
How do I request a ride?
|
To request a ride, open the Guaranteed Ride Home or Emergency Ride Home widget in the CommuteHub app and select Claim. From there, the process depends on how your organization has set up the program. Some organizations may ask you to answer a few questions before your request is processed, while others provide your ride information right away.

How does the ride work?
Organizations can provide rides in different ways. For example, you may receive:
- A code for a transportation provider such as Uber, Lyft, or a local taxi company that you enter when paying for your ride.
- A voucher with a maximum value that covers all or part of your ride.
- Approval to pay for the ride yourself and request reimbursement later. Depending on your organization's process, you may receive your reimbursement through a Tango Card or another reimbursement method. If this option applies to you, it's a good idea to keep your receipt.
Many organizations also require rides to be requested from an eligible area, such as near your workplace. This helps ensure the program is used for its intended purpose.
Need additional rides?
Most organizations provide a fixed number of rides each year.
If you've already used all of your available rides, your organization may offer additional ride vouchers or codes through the Rewards section in exchange for Commute Points. This option is not available for every organization.
If you have questions about your organization's program or believe something isn't working as expected, contact your manager or admin for assistance.
