The Communications section in the Management Dashboard gives you an overview of the messages sent to users and the Journeys that send them.
From Communications in the left sidebar, you can access:
- Journeys, where you create and manage automated communications
- Notifications, where you can review notifications that have been sent to users
Journeys
Journeys are your main communication tool. They allow you to automatically send relevant messages to users when something happens.
For example, a Journey can be triggered when:
- a new user registers
- a new challenge starts
- a user reaches a specific milestone
Depending on how the Journey is set up, users can receive an email, push notification, or in-app message.
Notifications
The Notifications tab gives you an overview of the notifications sent through your Journeys. It can help you see what was sent, who received it, when it was sent, and whether the notification was successfully sent.
The table includes the following information:
| Information | Description |
| Date & time | When the notification was sent |
| User | The user the notification was sent to |
| Type | The type of notification, such as push, email, or in-app |
| Category | The notification category |
| Trigger | The Journey or event (bulk email) that triggered the notification |
| Status | The current status of the notification (sent, failed or skipped) |
| Reason | Additional information when a notification could not be sent |
For both push and in-app notifications, you can click a user's name to open their account profile, or click the trigger to go directly to the corresponding Journey
Find specific notifications
Use the filters above the table to narrow down the results. For example, you can filter by user to find all notifications associated with a specific user.
You can also customize which information is displayed in the table:
- Select the three-line icon next to the filters.
- Select or deselect the columns you want to see.
- The table updates to show your selected information.
Export notifications
You can export the notifications currently shown in the table if you need to analyze or share the data outside the Management Dashboard.
- Apply any filters you need.
- Select the export icon in the upper-left corner of the table.
- Choose CSV or Excel.
- The filtered notification data is exported in the selected format.
To remove your filters and return to the full list, select the clear filters icon in the upper-left corner of the table.
Checking a missing notification
If a user reports that they didn't receive a notification, start by finding the notification in Communications → Notifications.
A Sent status means that CommuteHub sent the notification successfully, but it does not necessarily mean that the user received it. For push notifications, for example, you can proxy as the user and check whether their notification settings are enabled.
If the status is Failed, expand the notification using the arrow to see additional details and the reason for the failure.
If the status shows Skipped, it may be because the notification bounced and failed to reach the user or the user unsubscribed. But the reason is usually written right next to it.
If you can't find the notification at all, check whether the user is a member of the relevant Network the notification was sent to.
