Want to make your commute more social, affordable, or sustainable? Creating a pool allows you to share your journey with others and become part of the CommuteHub matching community.
Whether you drive, cycle, walk, or use public transportation, posting your trip helps other users discover compatible travel options.
Create Your First Post
To create a new post:
- Open Pools from the main menu.
- Go to the My Posts tab.
- Click the Create Post button.
- Select the type of pool you want to create.
- Enter your trip details and save your post.
Your post immediately becomes part of the matching system and can be discovered by other users through Search and other relevant ride suggestions.
Choose Your Pool Type
CommuteHub supports several ways to travel together:
- Carpool – Offer seats in your vehicle or coordinate shared rides.
- Bikepool – Find cycling partners for your commute.
- Walkpool – Connect with others who walk similar routes.
- Transitpool – Coordinate journeys using public transportation.
Different commute types help create more transportation options and make it easier for people to find travel partners that fit their preferences.
☝️For example, if you choose the carpool option, you can select whether you want to be a rider, a driver, or both. Opting for both gives you the most flexibility and increases your chances of finding a match.
Add Your Trip Details
When creating a post, you can provide information such as:
- Route
- Departure date and time
- Recurring or one-time trips
- Additional information
The more information you provide, the easier it becomes for others to determine whether your trip is a good match.
Share Within Your Network
You can decide who can see your post.
Depending on your organization's setup, you may be able to limit the visibility by choosing only certain networks that can see it. This gives you flexibility and helps create trusted commuting communities.
Stay Visible to Other Users
Once your post is published, it becomes searchable within the matching system.
Other users can:
- Find your trip based on route and schedule compatibility.
- Contact you through the platform.
- Receive recommendations based on your trip details.
Your activity status is updated automatically and may appear to other users as indicators such as Active this week or No recent activity. These indicators help users identify active members who are more likely to respond to messages.
Automatic Matching
|
The right match might not exist when you first post your commute. A few weeks later, a new colleague could be looking for exactly the same route. Proactive Matching automatically looks for new matches for your existing posts. When a match is found, you'll see it in CommuteHub and may receive a push notification, in-app notification, or email. That means your post keeps working for you, even when you're not actively searching. |

Keep Your Trip Up to Date
Schedules change, and your commute can change with them.
You can edit your post at any time to update:
- Departure times
- Dates
- Locations
- Trip frequency
- Notes and additional information
Keeping your post current improves your chances of finding suitable matches and helps other users plan their commute with confidence.
How to Change Your Role from Driver to Rider
Don't have your car this week ? No problem! You can easily update your existing post to look for a driver rather than offering a ride:
Navigate to the Pools section from the main menu bar.
Go to the My Posts tab (selected by default).
Click on the post you wish to modify.
Scroll down and click Edit.
Locate the "I want to be a..." section.
Select the Rider icon.
Click Save.
☝️ What changes? Switching to a rider means you'll no longer appear as an available ride offer. Instead, your post will show that you're seeking a driver on your route.
